About Free Radicals
[ Anti-Oxidants ]

Free Radicals are those nasty things that wreak havoc in your brain and body causing the cell damage that can eventually deteriorate into disease.
The biological process that creates a "free radical" starts with the chemical interactions within the cell; electrons. Electrons are the substance that bonds atoms together to form molecules.

Free Radical is a term describing an unpaired electron, roaming about seeking another electron to bond with. Free radicals often will attack the nearest stable molecule, "stealing" its electron. When the "attacked" molecule loses its electron, it becomes a free radical itself, beginning a chain reaction. Once the process is started, it can cascade, finally resulting in the disruption of a living cell.

How can you stop the action of free radicals in your body?

By taking antioxidants, of course. Normally, the body can handle free radicals, but if antioxidants are unavailable, or if the free-radical production becomes excessive, damage can occur. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals by donating one of their own electrons, ending the electron-"stealing" reaction. The antioxidant nutrients themselves don’t become free radicals by donating an electron because they are stable in either form. They act as scavengers, helping to prevent cell and tissue damage that could lead to cellular damage and disease.

What antioxidants should you take?

As our bodies age, the accumulation of environmental toxins and poor lifestyle habits leaves us vulnerable to free radical damage. The most available antioxidants are those you get from eating plenty of fruits and vegetables--vitamins C and E. However, with cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer's disease on the rise every year, it is wise to supplement this vital health ingredient. Below are brief descriptions of the products we recommend with links to more information on our website.
