Free Advice About Free Radicals
[ Anti-Oxidants ]

Free Radicals are those nasty things that wreak havoc in your brain and body causing the cell damage that can eventually deteriorate into disease.
The biological process that creates a "free radical" starts with the chemical interactions within the cell; electrons. Electrons are the substance that bonds atoms together to form molecules.

How can you stop the action of free radicals in your body?

By taking antioxidants, of course. Normally, the body can handle free radicals, but if antioxidants are unavailable, or if the free-radical production becomes excessive, damage can occur. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals by donating one of their own electrons, ending the electron-"stealing" reaction. The antioxidant nutrients themselves don’t become free radicals by donating an electron because they are stable in either form. They act as scavengers, helping to prevent cell and tissue damage that could lead to cellular damage and disease.

Chromium - Good for the Diabetic Heart

Chromium Supplementation may be good for the heart in people with type 2 diabetes, according to study findings. A harmful heart rhythm disturbance known as a prolonged QT interval has been linked to heart arrhythmias. Study investigator Dr. Bojan Vrtovec from Ljublijana University Medical Center in Slovenia believes the changes in QT interval observed with chromium supplementation in patients with type 2 diabetes may also translate into a survival benefit.

In the study, researchers had 30 diabetic patients take 1000 micrograms of chromium daily for 3 month. Another 30 patients took a placebo for 3 months. At 3 months end, the QT interval was significantly shorter in the supplementation group than in the placebo group. Researchers say this study shows that increased intake of chromium may lower cardiovascular risk in type 2 diabetic patients. Researchers also note that blood insulin levels decreased significantly after 3 months of chromium supplementation and this may be partly responsible for shortening the QT interval.

A prolonged QT interval has been associated with high blood sugar levels, high insulin levels and reduced sensitivity to insulin in type 2 diabetics. Researchers believe chromium supplementation improves sensitivity to insulin, lowers blood insulin levels and improves glucose homeostasis.

Good News for Your Immune System
[ Beta Glucan ]

With your help, your immune system is still capable of preventing disease.

Here's a hard FACT: when the immune system loses control, disease takes over. Cancer cells are sneaky. They constantly attack the body trying to find a way to either overcome the immune system or escape recognition. The probability that, over the course of a lifetime, an individual will develop cancer or die from it is referred to as Lifetime Risk. Today your immune system faces new and frightening challenges that increase Lifetime Risk more than ever before. But with your help it can still beat the odds.

Our bodies are under constant attack by invading microorganisms, such as viruses and bacteria. Times of extreme stress, lifetime exposure to allergens, pollutants, and bouts of sickness constantly challenge the immune system.

It can't be stressed enough that proper nutrition is your first line of defense against disease. But time and again we've been told that these days, "eating right" is just not enough. What to do?

Take heart. Because recent research in the area of immune supplementation reveals a powerful extract that provides the additional support we need to defend against daily attacks that threaten our health.

Super Pancreatin

Enzymes assist critical digestive processes--that's why we just can't say enough about them. Specifically, they reduce complex nutritional components of various foods into simple sub units so they can be digested with ease.

Your stomach produces digestive enzymes, but as you age it produces less and less. And other factors like prescription drugs use and poor eating habits can contribute to a lack of enzymes. Not only does this create discomfort, it affects your body's ability to effectively utilize the nutrients in food. Conditions resulting from lack of enzymes include:

~ Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS
~ Bloating
~ Flatulence
~ Increased food allergies
~ Poor nutrient absorption
~ Abdominal swelling
~ Chronic belching
~ Gut dysbiosis (a combination of some or all of the above conditions)

Digestive enzymes are the mainstay in the treatment of gastrointestinal problems. There are many digestive aids available, but we believe none are as effective as our proprietary blend Super Pancreatin and Digestive Enzymes for Kids.

Stress also can affect digestion. If you feel that stress or anxiety is contributing to your digestive problems, 2 capsules of L-Theanine (LT) will relax your stomach and allow it to do its job. LT can be opened and mixed with a little water to speed absorption.

NSAIDs
[ and how to avoid using them ]

In April 2005, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced actions taken regarding the marketing of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).  These actions by the FDA follow scrutiny provoked by the voluntary withdrawal of Vioxx by Merck in September 2004.

This Public Health Advisory by the FDA concerns use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug products including those known as COX-2 inhibitors, as well as non-prescription NSAIDs.

Recently released data from controlled clinical trials showing that the COX-2 selective agents (Vioxx, Celebrex, and Bextra) may be associated with an increased risk of serious cardiovascular events (heart attack and stroke) especially when they are used for long periods of time or in very high risk settings (immediately after heart surgery).

Preliminary results from a long-term clinical trial (up to three years) suggest that long term use of a non-selective NSAID, naproxen (sold as Aleve, Naprosyn and other trade name and generic products), may be associated with an increased cardiovascular (CV) risk compared to placebo.

Celadrin®

Just as concern over the potential damaging effects of these prescription pain relievers is on the rise, great results have been achieved with an innovative, all natural ingredient which has been medically shown to reduce inflammation and pain with no side effects.

Studies show Celadrin® decreases inflammation and lubricates cell membranes throughout the body, restoring fluids that cushion bones and joints to promote flexibility and mobility. Over time, because of the reduction of inflammation delivered by using Celadrin®, the joints and surrounding tissue have an opportunity to promote healthy joints.
