American Chiropractic Assoc. Declares “State of Emergency” in Response to S.1955

The American Chiropractic Association has expressed its strong opposition to proposed legislation that would deregulate the health insurance market and gut state patient protection laws. As a result, millions of patients could find themselves without chiropractic health benefits. The U.S. Senate is considering a bill sponsored by senator Michael Enzi (R-WY).

The bill, S. 1955, also known as the “Health Insurance Marketplace Modernization and Affordability Act,” attempts to expand health care access and reduce insurance costs through the creation of small business health plans. Small business health plans, often called association health plans, or AHPs, offer insurance coverage purchased through guilds on behalf of the small businesses that make up their memberships.
The AARP, American Cancer Society and American Diabetes Association are working together to defeat the Senate bill, which they also say could lead to discrimination by employers and sub-standard coverage for those with chronic illnesses.

What's all the fuss about FATS?

Saturated | Polyunsaturated | Trans Fat | Partially Hydrogenated | Essential Fatty Acids

Ok let's get one thing straight from the start. Your body needs fats and oils to stay healthy.

Fats from fish and vegetable sources provide a concentrated source of energy in the diet; they also provide the building blocks for cell membranes and a variety of hormones and hormone-like substances.

Dietary fats are needed for the conversion of carotene to vitamin A, for mineral absorption and for a host of other processes.

Everyone knows there are good fats and bad fats. But there are so many references to different kinds of fats today, the average person can't help but be confused. Don't give up. Here are a few simple definitions to get you on the right fat track.

Looking for a remedy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

Abdominal pain | Gas | Bloating | Backaches | Fatigue

During times of stress one of the first areas of the body to be affected is the stomach. If you suffer from constant abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating and constipation, you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

With IBS, the nerves and muscles in the bowel are extra-sensitive. For example, the muscles may contract too much when you eat. These contractions can cause cramping and diarrhea during or shortly after a meal. Or the nerves can be overly sensitive to the stretching of the bowel (because of gas, for example). Cramping or pain can result.
