Metabolic Synd | Why D is hot So long, anxiety and depression
Anxiety and depression result from shortages of key
brain chemicals called
neurotransmitters. Restore these neurotransmitters
by giving the brain the amino acids it needs and feel your mind start to
hum again.
Amino Acids are protein building blocks and are the
key to reversing long-standing anxiety and depression. The key term is
"long-standing" because a deficiency is caused by chronic, on-going
depletion caused by stress of some kind. Stress is a fact of life, and one
we may have limited control over. The best medicine is prevention.
It starts with brain chemicals
(neurotransmitters).
Mood, behavior, and brain biochemistry are linked in
sort of relay race. Depression and anxiety result from failed
message-relays-- the neurotransmitter runners are dropping the baton, so
to speak, because key amino acids are in short supply. For example, the
amino acid GABA is strongly correlated with states of anxiety; if you are
lacking in GABA, calming messages to the brain fail to arrive as needed.
Add to this the negative effect of high levels of
heavy metals commonly found in the body such as those in the environment
or food. Aluminum, mercury, lead, and copper make the body toxic
interfering with brain function, and contribute to depression and anxiety.
Replenish the amino acid supply and flush the toxic metals out of the body
and you'll start seeing dramatic improvements in both depression and
anxiety.
By supplementing the amino acids that make up
specific neurotransmitters, you can actually change the nature and
intensity of brain messages and thus the emotions they affect. We
regularly advise prescription drug patients who want to discontinue
psychotropic drugs about the benefits of specific amino acids. The goal is
to bolster the patient's amino acid reserves so they can eventually
discontinue these drugs, or to at least reduce the potential toxicity of
the psychotropics which will often reduce the side effects. Our clients
generally have positive results in 3 to 4 weeks, and sometimes significant
improvement in a matter of days.
Remember that any chemical
substance that affects the brain affects the activity of
neurotransmitters. When people take Prozac for depression, they're
actually trying to biochemically elevate their serotonin levels. When
people take Valium and the other benzodiazepine drugs for anxiety, they're
trying to elevate their GABA levels.
Balance Your Brain . . . Less Anxiety!
Biochemically, the brain overfires, sending too many
messages at once, resulting in anxiety. Generally this overfiring is due
to low natural levels of nerve-signal-blocking chemicals in the brain. Low
GABA levels, for instance, create an inability to balance out an
overactive chemical state. Many factors such as medications, amount of
stress/anxiety, genetic predisposition contribute to this unbalance in the
brain.
Stimulate Neurotransmitters . . . Less
Depression.
Depression is a different biochemical pathway in the
brain, which is why, in most instances, a depressed person does not suffer
from anxiety. Deficiencies of serotonin or other neurotransmitters such as
dopamine and norepinephrine, are linked with depression. Strategic use of
amino acids and other nutrients stimulate the neurotransmitter pathways in
the brain naturally, thereby dissolving anxiety and lifting depression.
Identifying the Problem.
The first step in reversing anxiety and depression
is a complete patient workup to see which factors are at play. Take an
amino acid panel, using either urine or blood profiles, to gain
information about your amino acid levels + other factors that contribute
to your particular biochemistry. This along with your personal profile
reveals specifics such as genetic factors, inadequate nutrition, and life
stressors that can point to a deficiency of certain vital nutrients. The
goal is elevation of key nutrients with amino acids, minerals, and
vitamins to naturally correct your brain chemistry. When you give what the
body needs, it does the rest naturally.
Take back control.
People who take nutrients under proper guidance
begin to have a renewed sense of control over their physical and emotional
state vs. surrendering to the powerful effects of strong medications with
many side effects. In addition, changing your biochemistry helps you deal
effectively with any psychological issues connected to anxiety or
depression, giving you a better outlook so that you have a sense of power
and self control. |
